Combined heat and power system getting backup from 90 tons of steam an hour
As this grain processor was about to lose its external backup for its combined heat and power system, we called out to install a powerful backup system.
For safety reasons, the production of this client, a well-known European grain processor, cannot come to a standstill. However, the external system that acted as backup for its combined heat and power system was about to become unavailable. Thus, we installed a powerful steam system at the client’s own production site that would assume the backup task.
Incidentally, in the event of an emergency, it takes at least 60 tons of steam/h to safely bring production to a halt. Callens was given the task of delivering a 100 % reliable system to guarantee that safety! We designed a system featuring three fire-tube boilers that produce 30 tons of steam/h each, equipped with a thermal degasser. The boilers are continuously on standby to, if necessary, take over the full steam requirements of the active combined heat and power system within ten minutes.
