This customer’s production process inevitably involves strongly odorous emissions. Today, these gases are efficiently processed through the steam boiler’s burner at high temperatures.

Custom burner design
To bring the concept to life, the Department of Technology, together with the supplier, designed a burner that processes the odorous gases right at its core, at temperatures exceeding 800°C to prevent any further emissions. The flue gases are then scrubbed to neutralize any remaining odors.
It was quite a piece of engineering. Fortunately for the client, we knew exactly how to handle their specific challenge, because no other party wanted to take it on.

In short: we designed a larger burner. The odorous gases serve as fuel for the primary flame, and with several technical adjustments, we maintained the correct pressure levels while keeping NOx emissions low.
At maximum output of 6,167 kW, we combust:
a mixture of 500 m³/h of odorous gases
with 605 Nm³/h of natural gas and 7,220 Nm³/h of combustion air
Ready for hybrid operation
The steam boiler was designed with hybrid operation in mind. It is generously sized, and electric resistances can be easily added later. As soon as the customer has access to cost-efficient electricity, we’ll complete the hybrid system.
