Thermal technologies for industrial process heat

The Callens Group develops and integrates thermal technologies for industrial process heat across a wide range of sectors. As an EPCS integrator, we design, build and maintain complete heat installations: from steam boilers to industrial heat pumps and hybrid systems.

To do so, we don’t start from a particular technology, but from your specific situation. That way, you always get the thermal technologies that best combine efficiency, flexibility, operational reliability and sustainability.

Process heat tailored to your operational context

What is the most optimal thermal technology? That very much depends on operational factors such as

  • required temperature
  • pressures
  • flow rates
  • production continuity

Fluctuating energy prices and stricter emission targets also factor into the choice.

At the Callens Group, we start from your operational context to create the heat solution that offers the best balance between energy efficiency, operational reliability and sustainability.

Typical challenges the Callens Group takes account of

  • Rising energy prices and pressure on operational efficiency.
  • Stricter CO2 and NOX targets stemming from regulations and your own sustainability strategy.
  • Reducing the risk of production downtime caused by malfunctions in your thermal installations.
  • Limited in-house capacity or expertise to manage complex thermal systems.

Which thermal technology suits your process?

Not every industrial application calls for the same form of heat. Some processes need high temperatures, while others run perfectly well on low to medium temperatures.

The right industrial thermal technology depends on more than just the required power. The heat transfer medium, desired pressure, usage profile, capacity and available space will also have a major influence on the choice of installation.

That is why our engineers always analyze the local conditions of your production environment.

Solutions

Industrial thermal technologies for every heat demand

Based on a thorough analysis of your process parameters and the wider operational context, our engineers work out the most suitable heat solution. That can range from a traditional boiler installation to a hybrid energy system where several heat sources work in sync. This ensures you have an efficient, reliable and future-proof heat supply.

Steam boilers

A steam boiler for industrial processes, heating or driving machinery.

From electrode boilers and electric steam boilers, to hybrid steam boilers, (bio)gas-fired boilers and hydrogen-fired steam boilers.

Thermal oil boilers

A boiler installation that heats thermal oil to extremely high temperatures and circulates it as a heat carrier.

From electric and (bio)gas-fired boilers, to syngas and hydrogen-fired thermal oil boilers.

Hot water & industrial central heating boilers

Heating systems designed to produce large volumes of water for industrial processes.

From electric, hybrid and (bio)gas-fired boilers, to syngas and hydrogen-fired industrial boilers.

Thermal oxidizers

Installations that thermally combust volatile organic compounds, odorous gases or process emissions at high temperatures.

Our thermal oxidizers focus on maximum recovery of the released heat for your production process.

Industrial heat pumps

A system that upgrades waste heat from production processes to a suitable temperature level with considerably lower energy consumption than a classic boiler, and up to a 100 % reduction in CO2 emissions if green electricity is used.

Our range includes both open and closed heat pump systems. In the closed systems, we work with natural refrigerants or refrigerants with a low GWP. In the open systems, we compress residual vapors in one or more stages to the desired temperature level, otherwise known as Mechanical Vapor Recompression (MVR).

Combined heat and power systems

A CHP unit simultaneously produces electricity and process heat from a single fuel stream. This significantly increases the overall energy efficiency of your site.

To build a powerful CHP unit, the Callens Group uses gas turbines.

Rental boilers

Do you temporarily need extra thermal capacity to keep production running?

The Callens Group offers a wide range of rental boilers for industrial heat applications: from steam boilers and thermal oil boilers to industrial central heating boilers to get you up and running quickly. Available for short and long-term rental.

The rental installations are equipped with the best technologies available to ensure that they meet the strictest emission standards. What is more, we can even supply you with electric or hybrid versions.

Sustainability

Make use of waste heat and lower emissions
