Industrial climate control

Industrial climate control creates a stable and controlled production environment where temperature, air distribution, and ventilation are perfectly aligned. It is not always necessary to bring the entire production hall to the same temperature. In many cases, it is much more efficient to simply condition manned zones or areas where the production process requires specific climate conditions.

The Callens Group designs, builds, and maintains integrated climate systems for large industrial production halls, warehouses, and technical rooms. By combining ventilation, heating, cooling, and air distribution in a well-considered way, we create a comfortable working environment and the optimal conditions for your production process.

When is industrial climate control useful?

Industrial climate control is recommended when temperature and air distribution in your working environment need to be accurately controlled. This could be to guarantee consistent product quality, to stabilize sensitive processes, or to create a comfortable working environment for your employees. Depending on the application, the solution may consist of industrial cooling, heating, ventilation, or a combination of these technologies. By designing these systems as one integrated whole, you create the desired climate conditions in specific work zones or entire production halls, warehouses, or technical rooms in an energy-efficient way.

Typical challenges where industrial climate control adds value

  • Temperatures that are too high or too low in production halls, warehouses, or technical rooms.
  • Drafts and large temperature differences between different work zones.
  • Creating comfortable workplaces without unnecessarily heating or cooling the entire production hall.
  • Conditioning large air volumes in production halls, warehouses, and technical rooms in an energy-efficient manner.
  • Modernizing existing installations with energy-efficient technologies and natural refrigerants to comply with the stricter F-gas regulations.

How does Callens Group deliver industrial climate control?

The Callens Group develops integrated climate systems for large industrial production environments. Our engineers look at the complete air technology installation as one whole: from air flow rates, air distribution, and temperature control to heat generation, cooling, ventilation, and integration with existing technical installations.

Based on a thorough analysis of your building, production process, and energy balance, we determine which technologies and configurations best suit your situation. Depending on the application, we combine industrial heating, cooling, ventilation, air distribution, and control technology into one optimally functioning climate system.

As an EPCS integrator, we then take care of the entire process: from engineering and dimensioning to delivery, installation, commissioning, service, and maintenance. This gives you a climate technology solution that is technically well thought-out, energy-efficient, and fully tailored to your production environment.

SOLUTIONS

Our solutions for industrial climate control

Industrial climate control covers ventilation, cooling, and heating. Depending on the situation, we combine different technologies into one integrated system to align temperature, air quality, and air distribution perfectly, with maximum attention to energy efficiency, working comfort, and process stability.

Industrial cooling

Machines, production processes, and solar gain can cause temperatures in production halls and warehouses to rise sharply. Industrial cooling keeps temperature under control and prevents overheating of both employees and installations.

IMG 0106

Industrial ventilation

A well-designed ventilation system creates a stable air climate where heat, moisture, and contaminants are removed in a controlled way. This creates a pleasant and safe working climate, even in production halls with large air volumes.

Industrial heating

A good heating system not only creates a pleasant working climate, but also prevents large temperature fluctuations that can affect production processes, machines, or stored products.

How does industrial climate control contribute to a more sustainable production environment?

Planned maintenance, an unexpected breakdown or a temporary capacity increase does not mean you have to fall back on outdated or less efficient heat production. Temporary heat supply can also fully support your company’s sustainability goals today.

Callens Group has a modern rental fleet with high-efficiency steam boilers, industrial hot-water boilers and thermal-oil boilers that can be deployed quickly and comply with the applicable safety and environmental standards. This lets you combine maximum business continuity with an efficient and future-oriented heat supply.

In ventilation and climate control systems, heat is removed through extracted air. By integrating heat recovery intelligently, this energy can be reused to heat fresh ventilation air or for other applications within your building or production process. This reduces primary energy consumption and increases the overall efficiency of your installation.

The energy consumption of industrial climate control is largely determined by how air flow rates, air distribution, and control technologies are aligned. By optimizing these parameters, energy consumption can be reduced significantly. This lowers the operating costs of your working environment.

The phase-out of F-gases makes natural refrigerants the logical choice for industrial cooling installations. That is why the Callens Group now works with natural refrigerants such as CO₂, ammonia, propane, and isobutane. These refrigerants combine a very low climate impact with excellent energy performance and comply with the strictest current and future regulations.

A well-considered air technology concept starts on your site

Plans and technical data sheets only tell part of the story. That is why Callens Group always looks beyond theoretical calculations or third-party studies.

Our engineers start every project with a thorough on-site analysis. We map airflows, heat sources, moisture load, air flow rates, pressure differences, and the interaction between different processes. At the same time, we examine how employees move through the production environment and which climate conditions are needed to guarantee both working comfort and process stability.

Based on these measurements and practical insights, we then develop a technical concept that correctly dimensions the entire installation. This gives you an air technology solution that performs optimally in practice, day after day.

Working with the Callens Group means peace of mind, reliability, and certainty

An industrial climate control solution is an investment for decades. That is why it is best to choose a partner that provides the right solution and the necessary service to guarantee lasting performance. You will find that combination at the Callens Group.

At the Callens Group, you have a single point of contact for your entire steam project: from the first analysis to installation, including service and maintenance. This keeps the process clear and reduces the need for separate coordination between different parties.

The Callens Group is not tied to a single brand, manufacturer or technology. This allows us to select the solution that is technically and economically the most attractive for each project. To do so, our engineers take account of energy prices, grid capacity, water quality, emission targets, available space and total cost of ownership to provide you with a solution that integrates perfectly into your production environment.

With more than 120 service and maintenance specialists, the Callens Group has one of the largest service teams. Preventive maintenance, interventions, remote monitoring and an extensive stock of spare parts ensure that your steam installation remains maximally available and that unplanned downtime is kept to a minimum.

The Department of Technology is the Callens Group’s innovation center. Here, new developments in heat technologies are assessed for their technical feasibility and their added value for industrial applications. Only proven technologies ultimately find their way to customers.

With 13 locations across Belgium, the Netherlands and France, we combine the benefits of an international group with the proximity of local teams. This allows us to act quickly.

Questions? We have the answers.

The airflow rate and cooling or heating capacity are determined based on the dimensions of the space, internal heat loads, moisture generation, air changes, and required temperature. Open doors, machines, extraction, and future production expansions also play a role.

Firstly, the moisture sources and desired relative humidity are determined. Ventilation, cooling, and heating can then be combined to remove moisture and limit condensation. This also helps prevent corrosion, mold growth, and quality issues.

A stable temperature requires the right combination of capacity, airflow rate, and air distribution. It is not always necessary to bring the entire hall to the same temperature. Often, it is more efficient to condition work zones or critical process zones in a targeted way.

Machines, production lines, outdoor conditions, and heat losses determine how much cooling or heating capacity is needed. The Callens Group maps these loads and calculates the capacity required to maintain the desired temperature.

Energy consumption can be reduced by aligning air flow rates with actual needs, controlling fans with frequency drives, and reusing heat from the installation. Good air distribution and correctly dimensioned cooling and heating systems also help limit consumption.
