Electric hot water and industrial central heating boiler

Electric hot water and industrial central heating boilers convert electricity directly into usable heat for industrial processes and building heating. Because no combustion takes place, they produce no direct CO2, NOX or flue gas emissions on site.

The Callens Group supports you with the technical and economic assessment and develops an installation that is perfectly tailored to your heat demand, available grid capacity and sustainability goals.

When is an electric hot water or central heating boiler worthwhile?

For applications where temperatures up to 200 °C are sufficient, electric hot water and central heating boilers can be an attractive alternative to conventional fuel-fired installations.

Feasibility depends, among other things, on the available electrical capacity, heat consumption, operating hours and energy prices. Companies with their own solar or wind energy can also build an attractive business case.

Because there is no combustion, there are no flue gases, chimneys or direct CO2 and NOX emissions on site.

Reasons to consider an electric hot water and central heating boiler:

  • You want to electrify your heat supply.
  • You want to phase out the use of fossil fuels.
  • You want to avoid direct emissions on site.
  • You have sufficient electrical capacity or are exploring a grid reinforcement.
  • You want to make use of electricity surpluses or green power.
  • You are looking for a future-proof solution for process or building heating.

Technical specifications of electric hot water and industrial central heating boilers

The required output, the desired temperature, the available grid capacity and heat consumption all help determine which installation best suits your application.

In addition, we look at operating hours, possible expansions and integration within existing heating or process installations.

Our specialists guide you through this assessment and advise you on the most attractive solution, technically and economically.

BENEFITS

Advantages of an electric hot water and industrial central heating boiler

Electric hot water and industrial central heating boilers produce heat without local combustion, and, hence, without local emissions. That brings plenty of environmental and economic benefits.

Fast controllability

Electricity is converted almost entirely into usable heat, offering you very high efficiencies.

Limited maintenance needs

The output can be precisely matched to the current heat demand.

Fewer fossil fuels

With no burners, flue gas system or combustion equipment, maintenance remains relatively limited.

Useful use of electricity surpluses

Heat production becomes less dependent on natural gas or other fuels.

Putting surplus electricity to good use

Available or lower-cost electricity can be converted into process heat.

Less peripheral equipment

No burner or flue gas system is needed, which makes the installation simpler.

How do you integrate an electric hot water or industrial central heating boiler into your existing infrastructure?

Electric installations can be integrated as a stand-alone solution or within existing heating and process networks.

Depending on the available space, the boilers can be set up compactly, which makes them relatively easy to fit into existing technical rooms. Expansion alongside existing heat sources is often possible as well.

The specialists of the Callens Group analyze your current infrastructure and advise you on the configuration that is best suited to your heat demand and available energy supply.

FAQ

Questions? We have the answers.

Both systems work on the same principle. Industrial central heating boilers are typically used for temperatures up to 110 °C, whereas hot water installations can reach temperatures up to around 200°C.

An electric hot water or industrial central heating boiler produces no direct CO2 emissions on site because no combustion takes place. When the installation is powered by 100 % green electricity, the CO2 emissions of heat production can even disappear entirely. The actual CO2 reduction depends on the type of installation being replaced, the consumption and the source of the electricity used. Curious how much CO2 your company could save?

That depends on the required output, the available grid capacity and heat consumption. In some situations, full electrification is possible; in others, a phased approach is chosen.

As an EPCS integrator, the Callens Group takes care of the entire process: from on-site analysis and engineering to installation and service. That gives you a single point of contact throughout the full service life of your electric hot water or industrial central heating boiler.
