Industrial ventilation

In industrial production environments, ventilation helps create a healthy and safe working climate by removing heat, moisture, and contaminants in a controlled manner and keeping air quality at the right level.

Because every production environment has different requirements, the Callens Group develops ventilation systems that are fully tailored to your production process, building, and energy consumption. Whether you want to install a new ventilation system, upgrade an existing system, or need maintenance and repair, we are ready to help with high-quality solutions.

Industrial ventilation as a solution for optimal air quality

In industrial production environments, air quality can quickly deteriorate because heat, moisture, CO₂, odors, and other contaminants build up during the production process. Without sufficient air changes, the working climate becomes unpleasant and the risk of condensation, heat build-up, and reduced process reliability increases.

Industrial ventilation provides a continuous supply of fresh outdoor air and removes polluted or heated air in a controlled manner. A well-designed ventilation system keeps the air balance under control, prevents stagnant air, and distributes fresh air evenly throughout the entire space. This keeps air quality, working comfort, and operational reliability at the right level.

For which applications?

  • Production halls where a continuous supply of fresh air is needed to remove heat, moisture, and contaminants.
  • Warehouses and logistics centers where a healthy indoor climate and controlled air changes are important for employees and goods.
  • Technical rooms and machine rooms where installations generate heat and require reliable ventilation.
  • Assembly and production departments where a comfortable working climate supports employee productivity and safety.
  • Food, pharmaceutical, and chemical production environments where controlled air changes contribute to hygiene and process reliability.

Technical specifications for industrial ventilation

Every industrial ventilation installation is fully aligned with your production environment’s ventilation needs.

The air handling units can be installed indoors or outdoors, depending on the available space and your project-specific requirements. The full ductwork, piping, electrical installation, and control technology are also part of our integrated approach.

Depending on your application, we integrate the most suitable ventilation technologies, such as mechanical ventilation, heat recovery systems, air handling units, ventilation ducts, and other air technology components. This creates one integrated installation that is perfectly suited to your production process, building, and energy consumption.

The installations are built with high-quality components and are available in different designs, including galvanized steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or other materials that match the requirements of your production environment. Where relevant, we integrate technologies such as heat recovery, high-efficiency filtration, and energy-efficient fans to align performance, energy consumption, and operational reliability as effectively as possible.

Benefits

Benefits of industrial ventilation

A good ventilation system pays off every day. It creates a more pleasant working environment, contributes to a more efficient production process, lowers energy costs, and extends the service life of buildings and installations. In sum, the benefits go far beyond better air quality alone.

Healthy working environment

Industrial ventilation removes warm, humid, and polluted air in a controlled manner and provides a continuous supply of fresh outdoor air. This improves air quality and creates a healthier and more pleasant working environment for employees.

Higher employee productivity

A comfortable indoor climate helps employees work with focus and efficiency. By controlling heat, moisture, and poor air quality, you improve working comfort and support daily productivity.

Less absenteeism

By removing polluted air and supplying sufficient fresh air, you reduce exposure to unwanted substances and create a working environment where the risk of health complaints and absenteeism decreases.

Better control of moisture and condensation

Correct air renewal removes excess moisture in a controlled manner and lowers the risk of condensation, corrosion, mold growth, and moisture-related damage to buildings, machines, and stored products.

Lower energy consumption

By aligning airflow rates with actual needs and applying heat recovery where possible, energy consumption and operating costs decrease.

More reliable production conditions

Stable air conditions support processes and products that are sensitive to temperature, humidity, or changing environmental factors and help prevent quality differences and production disruptions.

Industrial ventilation requires customization

An industrial ventilation system is not a standard solution. The required airflow rates, air distribution, and ventilation technologies vary greatly depending on the heat load, production activities, building layout, and desired air quality. That is why every project starts from a thorough analysis of your ventilation needs.

During a site visit, the Callens Group engineers map the entire production environment. Based on our measurements and calculations, we analyze airflows, heat generation, moisture load, internal heat loads, and the interaction between the various production processes. Based on this measurement data, we select the ventilation technologies that best suit your situation.

The result is an integrated ventilation concept that works seamlessly with your production process and any heating, cooling, or extraction systems, giving you an installation that is technically correctly dimensioned, operates energy efficiently, and is ready for future expansion.

Maintenance after installation

During maintenance, we not only check the mechanical and electrical components, but also carry out vibration measurements and replace filters at the right time. Timely filter replacement prevents fans from consuming unnecessary energy and helps maintain air quality and installation performance. Waiting until filters are fully saturated often leads to higher energy costs and a greater load on the installation.

Questions? We have the answers.

The most efficient solution depends on the heat source, the heat load, and the layout of your production environment. A well-designed ventilation system removes excess heat in a controlled manner, without moving more air around than necessary. By correctly aligning airflow rates, air distribution, and control technologies, energy consumption remains limited and a comfortable working climate is created.

Our specialists will be happy to analyze your production environment and develop a custom ventilation solution.

Yes. In many industrial ventilation systems, valuable heat is lost via the air that is being extracted. By integrating heat recovery, this energy can be reused to heat fresh ventilation air or for other applications within your building or production process. This lowers energy consumption, reduces CO₂ emissions, and cuts operating costs.

Curious how much energy you can recover from your ventilation system? Our experts will be happy to review the possibilities for your production environment.

The required airflow rate will depend on many factors: the dimensions of your production hall, the number of employees, the heat and moisture load, the production processes, machines, open doors, and more. To map all these factors, the Callens Group starts every ventilation project with a site visit. During this analysis, our engineers carry out the necessary measurements to develop a correctly dimensioned ventilation concept and provide you with an energy-efficient installation that is fully tailored to your production environment.

Natural ventilation uses temperature differences and natural airflows through openings or grilles. Its performance, however, is very much weather-dependent. Mechanical ventilation offers you more precise control over airflow rate, air distribution, and filtration and tends to be the best choice for industrial production environments where constant air conditions are required.

Correct air balancing is essential. The supplied and extracted air volumes must be carefully aligned. An incorrect balance can cause drafts, doors that are difficult to close, unwanted airflows between different zones, or reduced performance of extraction installations. Depending on the production process, slight overpressure or negative pressure could also be considered.

For a new automotive battery assembly hall, the Callens Group developed a fully integrated ventilation system with two air handling units, each with a supply airflow rate of 36,000 m³/h and an extract airflow rate of 36,000 m³/h, for a total air movement of 144,000 m³/h. Each air handling unit has a heating capacity of 730 kW and combines double air filtration with heat recovery and precise temperature control. This keeps dust in the assembly hall to a minimum, reliably cools critical installations, and gives employees a comfortable working climate. The entire production hall was also brought under slight overpressure, preventing dust particles from entering when the doors open for material transport. The result is an energy-efficient ventilation solution that contributes to safety, product quality, and operational reliability throughout the production process.
