Callens Group Family Day draws nearly 1,000 curious visitors

On Saturday, October 7, we opened the doors of our Waregem headquarters to the families and friends of our Calliers, Callens-Vyncke colleagues, and Optimum by Callens colleagues. The program included an interactive tour, games for all ages, and a delicious finale. This exciting edition gave our many curious visitors a fun introduction to our activities and company culture.

Every employee was eager to proudly show family and friends around their workplace during a personal, interactive tour. Both the entire office building and the workshop featured signs with fun facts and interactive demonstrations.

Our Design Engineers offered everyone a glimpse into their 3D world using a VR headset. It was a guaranteed crowd-pleaser!

Our E&I Engineers and electricians also pulled out all the stops for Family Day. Visitors were able to operate a simulated steam boiler using a screen with the same type of HMI visualization we create for our customers. Finally, our welders demonstrated their skills in the workshop. Sparks flew as they expertly welded their structures.

This was anything but an ordinary tour. In addition to the interactive demonstrations, we created a special Callens experience for visitors of all ages at several stations. By the end of the day, everyone could recognize our founder, Willy Callens, because his picture was hidden in 50 locations as part of a “Where’s Willy?” game.

The air engineering department demonstrated the effects of ventilation, but with a playful twist. From a height of 16 feet, enthusiastic participants launched paper airplanes as far as possible, with an extra boost from two fans.

The thermal engineering department displayed a miniature steam boiler that visitors could bring to life if they connected the cables correctly within one minute. Exciting! We already know that the team in our workshop are first-rate welders. Especially for Family Day, they built a metal structure for a hanging challenge. Participants put their strength to the test by trying to hang from the structure for as long as possible and break the record.
