Callens' project portfolio expands amid an accelerating energy transition
01 March 2023
Thermal specialist Callens is seeing its project portfolio grow significantly during this accelerating energy transition. Today, just four months in, the company has already reached 50% of its target for 2023.
Callens doubled its sales figures in 2022
Rising market demand for alternative energy sources, combined with Callens' highly developed solutions, has driven project inquiries sharply upward in recent years. Energy sources such as electricity, biogas, bioethanol and hydrogen — along with electrode boilers — are gaining serious ground. In 2022, sales performed twice as well as in 2021, pushing the order entry of the entire Callens Group past the magic €100 million mark for the first time.
The types of projects have also become more varied: SMEs and multinationals alike, across a wide range of industries, now turn to Callens to optimize their heat and air technology. That does nothing to change the personal approach, however. Every industrial company, large or small, can count on the tireless commitment of the Calliërs and their can-do mentality.
Alongside project sales, the revamped service department is contributing to this growth as well. For years, Callens' service has been known for its speed and decisiveness in every province and every corner of the Benefralux region, and the number of requests keeps climbing. By fine-tuning its processes and its offering, the department has become considerably more efficient.
Callens' end-to-end approach is gaining ground
That strong service is part of Callens' commitment to taking care of everything, start to finish. As a group with several areas of specialization, it is increasingly winning projects that combine two or more technologies. Think of heat for production processes and ventilation for production halls. The Calliërs handle the engineering, the installation and the complete aftercare — always tailored to the customer's needs. For customers, that combination means welcome peace of mind and the freedom to focus on their own processes. The all-in project at Aviko is a perfect example.
Callens' EcologiCal thinking is the way forward
Callens has been working toward the energy transition for several years now. The conventional range of energy sources, including natural gas, remains important, but it has been expanded with new technologies that prepare customers for a more CO2-neutral energy policy.
To highlight the sustainability options available to industrial companies, Callens even launched 'EcologiCal': an umbrella term for all the technologies its engineers deploy for sustainable heat and air installations. Hybrid steam boilers running on both gas and electricity, fully electric boilers for both steam and thermal oil, biogas-fired boilers, electrode boilers and a broad range of heat recovery systems such as economizers are just a few examples in high demand.
The thermal specialist has since delivered a number of installations that generate process heat in a more sustainable and diversified way. The hydrogen-powered steam boilers at Vynova in Tessenderlo effectively marked the kick-off of Callens' futureproof offering.
