Food safe air heating system for industrial drying tower
Heating air in a food safe way is not a matter of course. Yet, it was a rewarding challenge for both our thermal and air experts. They combined thermal oil with tailored air batteries to reach up to 200°C, without the risk of hazardous substances, such as nitrates, entering the production process.
Indirect air heating for extra high temperatures
The indirect air heating system, unique in its design by reason of the thermal oil boiler with tailored air battery as its basis, heats the customer’s drying tower up to 200°C. The project is a result of a fine collaboration between our heat and air department. The thermal oil boiler with a capacity of 2.3 MW is equipped with an air preheater to heat the combustion air in the chimney and increase efficiency. Furthermore, we implemented a pipe exchanger instead of a standard plate heat exchanger to boost capacity and reliability.
Fine air filter system for food safe specialty chemicals
The fine three-layered filter system makes for a rigorous barrier for undesired substances. Hot air passes through the fine dust filter and ends up through a HEPA filter. The connection with a course filter can easily be established in the future thanks to our preparatory works.
Completion and follow-up according to Callens standards
The customer’s quality requirements matched Callens’ high standards immediately. The pump skids, for example, were carefully assembled in our workshop in Waregem, using the best materials for even more durability. The electric controls panel, too, was designed and assembled by our Cauls.
Even though the installation went smoothly, we don’t let go of this project. The customer’s production runs 24/7 so we’re dedicated to assist 24/7 in case of emergencies. In addition, our service team takes care of periodic and of course flawless maintenance of the entire installation.
