Steam peaks supported by two fire-tube boilers
Steam peaks are inherent to this customer's tobacco production, but the old coil boiler could not sufficiently handle them. Callens installed two fire-tube boilers — with a lower capacity — that can manage these peaks seamlessly.
From coil boiler to fire-tube boilers
Two new fire-tube boilers, each with a capacity of 2 T/h, replaced the old 5 T/h coil boiler. They ensure stable steam production, even during peak demand, which is a huge relief for the tobacco producer. The old coil boiler frequently caused disruptions and was in urgent need of replacement.
We were able to reduce both the total capacity and the capacity per steam boiler thanks to the stability a fire-tube boiler offers. Additionally, the dual-boiler setup provides extra reliability: one acts as a backup for the other.
Energy-saving standby feature
We added a hot standby feature with automatic steam shut-off valves to maximize energy savings. This ensures the steam outlets of the boilers are closed when there is no steam demand.
